Dr Mark Westacott

Mark trained as a clinical psychologist in Cambridge and has since worked in the NHS in Cambridge and Peterborough and has also lectured in clinical psychology at the University of East Anglia. Since qualifying in 1995 he has gained further training in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), cognitive analytic therapy (CAT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Mark has previously been the Course Director of the East Anglia CAT course and is currently an accredited CAT supervisor and Trainer and regularly lectures at the University of East Anglia and on other CAT courses around the country. He is also an external examiner for CAT courses in London, Manchester and Norwich. He is a past Chair of the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy and is currently a Trustee of the organization.

Mark’s treatment approach involves tailoring the therapy to the individual needs of the client, using a broad range of interventions to help the person move forwards quickly and confidently to achieve their goals. Mark is in supervision for all of his clinical work and has also had personal therapy as part of his training. He is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) and is registered with the government’s Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. He practices within the codes of ethics and practice of these organisations and is involved in an ongoing programme of continuing professional development.
